Question one: the school decision
On the west side, the school question usually resolves to a district question, and Aledo ISD is the gravitational center — it's the reason a large share of family relocations point at this corridor at all. The practical facts: the district covers more than the town of Aledo (parts of Willow Park, Hudson Oaks, and unincorporated Parker County feed the same schools); boundaries should be verified address-by-address with the district itself, because listing sites get them wrong constantly; and district demand shapes both markets — it's why rental houses inside the district are a campaign and why resale values hold. Weigh it against the alternatives honestly: Fort Worth ISD's west-side schools vary campus-by-campus (research the specific campus, not the district average), and Benbrook and White Settlement offer meaningfully lower housing costs. Question two: the daily geometry
Draw three points on a map — work, school, activities — and the triangle between them is your actual life. The west side's honest geometry: working at Lockheed or west Fort Worth makes this corridor the rare place where the affordable pockets and the short commutes point the same direction (the pocket-by-pocket breakdown); working downtown means I-30 is your artery and Willow Park sits ~25 minutes out at off-peak, more at rush; working in Dallas is the one triangle this corridor genuinely punishes — be honest with yourself about a 45–75 minute run before committing. Weekend geometry counts too: youth sports, dance, and church communities cluster differently in each pocket, and the side-of-town guide maps the trade-offs.
Question three: rent first, or buy now
The conventional wisdom says relocating families should rent a year before buying. This year, the math genuinely supports it — if you do it deliberately: west-side communities are offering 6–8 weeks free, which makes a 12-month “scout year” in the right school zone unusually cheap, and two of the concession-heavy communities sit inside Aledo ISD, so a rental year doesn't cost your kids a school transfer later. The counterweight: if you already know the district and the geometry, a scout year is an expensive comfort — thirty seconds of rent math shows what the same monthly payment builds instead. Either answer can be right; deciding on purpose is the point.

90+ days out: verify school boundaries for any address you're considering; join the early list with your timeline so market data arrives when decisions do. 60 days: if renting first, applications open (~60 days out; offer letters satisfy income checks nearly everywhere — the affordability math).
