THE BUYER'S LADDER · BANDS, DRIVES & DISTRICTS, WEST FROM THE GATE

Buying a home near Lockheed Martin Fort Worth

The plant is west, and so is every rung of the buyer's ladder: $230K White Settlement at the gate to Aledo ISD at 30 minutes — published bands, estimated drives, and the 2026 school ratings that price the rungs.

The short answer

The plant is on Fort Worth's west side, which means the buyer's ladder runs the same direction as the commute: White Settlement is the lowest published buy-in near the gate ($230K–$320K, 5–12 minutes), Benbrook adds the lake and an A-rated middle/high for roughly $70K–$100K more, and the Parker County rungs — Willow Park/Hudson Oaks, then Aledo — trade commute minutes for newer stock and the corridor's strongest school districts. Every band below is the site's published typical range (public listings, summer 2026), not a valuation.

Three notes. Drive times are off-peak mapping estimates (same basis as the renter's guide) and vary with departure time, traffic, and gate — test your route at your real commute hour. School attendance is address-specific everywhere on this table, and Willow Park/Hudson Oaks genuinely split between districts; verify the zoned campus with the district before money moves (the 2026 TEA page maps every campus). And each rung has a full seller-side file with days-to-contract: White Settlement, Benbrook, Willow Park, Aledo.

How to run the decision

  1. Rent first or buy now? The rent-vs-buy engine runs it on this corridor's own numbers; a “scout year” rental in the pocket you'd buy in is a legitimate strategy — the Benbrook guide shows what that looks like, and the math is already worked pocket-by-pocket for White Settlement and Willow Park.
  2. Pick the rung by what the extra dollars buy. Stepping from White Settlement to Benbrook buys the lake and campus-level school gains; Benbrook to Willow Park buys newer construction and Parker County; Willow Park to Aledo buys the district itself. If none of those trades matters to you, stay low on the ladder and bank the difference.
  3. File the homestead exemption the week you close — worth roughly $1,441–$1,690 a year across these districts at adopted 2025 rates. The exemption in dollars has the per-district arithmetic and the free filing steps.
  4. Military or veteran household? The plant shares a fence line with NAS JRB; the VA-loans guide covers the west-side specifics, and the jet-noise map is worth ten minutes before you pick a street.

Who this applies to

New-badge hires and transfers deciding whether to buy on arrival or rent a scout year first. Current employees stepping up the ladder as households grow — the school columns above are usually what moves the decision. Dual-income households where only one commute points at the plant: the Willow Park/Hudson Oaks rung keeps I-20 and I-30 both honest. Renter-side first? Start at apartments near the plant.
