Renting near Weatherford College
Weatherford College does house students on campus, but only 388 of them, and it received more than 500 housing applications this academic year. For many students the local rental market is the real housing plan, and the math works differently when a roommate, a course schedule, and a nine-month academic year enter the picture.
On campus: what the college's own numbers say (checked October 22, 2026)
Supply is short. Weatherford College has 388 beds across Coyote Village and Vickie and Jerry Durant Hall. At the October 15, 2026 Board of Trustees meeting, housing staff reported more than 500 applications for this academic year. The wait list peaked at 80 students, and 23 of them eventually got a space; many others found housing elsewhere after being told they'd be wait-listed (Weatherford College news, Oct. 15, 2026).
What it costs. For Fall 2026–Spring 2027, a bed in a four-bedroom unit with the 19-meal plan is $7,770 at Coyote Village and $7,980 at Durant Hall. With the 10-meal plan it's $7,340 and $7,550 (WC housing rates). Units are four-bedroom, two-bath, furnished, with private locking bedrooms and utilities included (WC housing). For comparison, the college's 2026–27 cost-of-attendance estimate puts food and housing at $8,110 for an on-campus student and $8,060 for one living off campus, not with parents (WC cost of attendance). Those are the college's planning estimates for the academic year, not quotes.
The rules that come with it. Campus housing requires a guarantor (co-signer) and a notarized lease page, a $300 security deposit, and enrollment in at least 12 hours. Fall/Spring applications were due by July 6, and a complete application doesn't guarantee a room: returning residents are placed first, then everyone else by application date (WC application information). Every campus resident must also have a meal plan and be enrolled full time, the college's dean of student life told trustees (Oct. 15, 2026). If you're applying for next year, apply early and line up an off-campus fallback at the same time.
The realistic options
Closest and cheapest: College Park — 2-bedrooms from $1,200 near campus (1BR pricing wasn't listed this cycle), no concession games, which matters because concession-free base rents don't jump at renewal the way lease-up rates do. The roommate play: a 2-bedroom split two ways beats almost any 1-bedroom — College Park's $1,200 2BR is $600 a head (note the 3.5x income requirement is calculated on the household), and Oxford's 2BR from $1,647 splits to low-$800s — though its August "2 months free" is gone, so requote before you tour. Three student-specific cautions: screening usually wants 3× income or a guarantor — a parent co-signer changes everything, ask about the guarantor process before paying an app fee (the income math); 12-month leases outlast 9-month academic years, so either match your lease to next summer's plan or read the subletting reality first; and month-end signing timed to semester start can catch a special — they decay fast.
