Living in Azle: the northwest gateway, by the numbers
An established Eagle Mountain Lake town with the first completely adopted 2026 tax stack we can print — including the city's five-cent increase, stated plainly — and a county line running through the middle of the math.
The short answer
Azle is the northwest gateway: an established Eagle Mountain Lake town of its own — its own school district, its own small-city main street — sitting just outside this site's core corridor but squarely inside its cross-shop. It prices as a value play, and October 2026 gives us something no other west-side town can show yet: a completely adopted 2026 tax stack, every layer on the county's official record. The headline inside it: the City of Azle raised its rate about five cents — the area's second increase this cycle — while the school district held flat and two county slices fell.

1 · The tax layer — the first complete 2026 stack we can print
Everything below is the adopted 2026 rate from the Tarrant County Tax Office's Truth-in-Taxation summary — not proposed, not last year's:
| Layer (Tarrant side) | 2026 adopted | Note |
|---|---|---|
| City of Azle | 0.674703 | Up ~5¢ from 0.624692 — above its own no-new-revenue rate |
| Azle ISD | 1.085000 | Flat vs 2025 |
| Tarrant County | 0.186000 | Down from 0.186200 |
| JPS hospital district | 0.159000 | Down from 0.165000 |
| Tarrant County College | 0.120000 | Up from 0.112280 |
| Total | ≈ 2.2247% | The first fully adopted 2026 stack we can print |
Two honest readings. First, the city increase is real: $0.674703 is above Azle's own no-new-revenue rate ($0.647651), though under the voter-approval ceiling ($0.710025) — the second rate increase of the 2026 cycle in our coverage, after Tarrant County College's. Second, even after it, the $140K homestead exemption is worth about $1,519/year against Azle ISD's $1.085 school rate. One structural caution that matters more here than anywhere else we cover: Azle straddles the Tarrant–Parker county line, and a Parker-side parcel swaps the three Tarrant slices above for Parker's — so the stack is parcel-specific by construction. Pull the exact parcel's taxing units before contract; the tax table's adoption watch tracks every unit we cover.
2 · The schools layer
Azle ISD rated a C (78) in TEA's 2026 cycle, flat against 2025. Stated against the corridor it cross-shops with: Aledo ISD A (92), Brock ISD A (91), Weatherford ISD B (80), Fort Worth ISD C (77). That gap is a large part of why Azle prices under the corridor's school-premium towns — the discount and the district letter are the same fact seen from two sides. The full district and campus tables, and the three limits of a letter grade, are on the 2026 TEA ratings page; verify the zoned campus for any specific address with the district.
3 · The daily-life layer
The lake is the identity: Azle sits on the western shore of Eagle Mountain Lake, and the boat-ramp-and-marina rhythm shapes the town the way the courthouse square shapes Weatherford. The drive into Fort Worth runs the TX-199 corridor through Lake Worth toward the west side's employers — and per this site's standing rule, time it yourself, at your real hours, both directions before you commit; corridor baselines live in the commute tables. For the towns Azle cross-shops against, the files are built: Benbrook (the lake town inside the loop conversation), White Settlement (the lowest entries), and the Aledo–Weatherford ladder.
4 · The decision layer
Azle fits households buying the lake life first; value buyers comfortable trading the corridor's A-district letter for a lower entry price; and anyone working the northwest quadrant — the TX-199 side — rather than the I-20/I-30 corridors this site centers on. Stay in the core corridor if the district letter is the point (Aledo, Brock) or if your commute runs to I-20 employers — Azle adds the diagonal. And weigh the city's five-cent increase honestly: it narrows, though doesn't close, Azle's tax gap against the Weatherford-side stacks.
Next steps
- Run the parcel, not the town: county line, taxing units, and school zoning are all parcel-specific in Azle.
- Check the campus, not just the district letter, on the TEA page and with Azle ISD.
- Price the carry with the adopted stack above and the calculator.
- Time the TX-199 drive at shift hours, both directions.
