The city hall layer
Each corridor city runs its own utility billing, permits, code enforcement, and animal services — Willow Park, Hudson Oaks, Aledo, Weatherford, Benbrook, and White Settlement all handle water/sewer/trash setup through city hall or its utility-billing office, and every one of them lets you start service by phone or a simple form (bring a copy of your lease or closing statement plus ID). Permits matter sooner than people expect: fences, sprinkler systems, water heaters, and most storm-repair work require city permits in all six — the hiring guide covers why the permit question is a contractor filter. Weatherford, as the county seat, adds the county layer: the courthouse annex handles vehicle registration (30-day clock — the move checklist tracks it) and the appraisal district office handles the homestead-exemption filing that the tax playbook won't let you forget.
The library system — the most underrated free amenity out here
Four libraries, each with a personality: the Weatherford Public Library (1014 Charles St — big summer kids' program, free notary on site), the Aledo Public Library / East Parker County Library (200 Old Annetta Rd — a genuinely beautiful new facility, Libby e-book support, mahjong afternoons), the Benbrook Public Library (1065 Mercedes St — the sleeper hit: a Library of Things with bakeware, board games, even a 3D-printer makerspace, plus near-daily baby classes), and the White Settlement Library (8215 White Settlement Rd — home of Browser, the mayor-proclaimed "Library Cat for Life," a small international celebrity). Cards are free for residents; several Parker County libraries honor each other's cards — ask at the desk. Storytimes across all four are the corridor's zero-dollar parenting infrastructure.
Recreation runs city-side too: Weatherford's Cherry Park Community Center rents for parties and gatherings, and the city pool on W Lee Ave runs summer seasons at a few dollars a head, cash. Parks details per city sit in each vibe file.
