The west side, straight up: where to rent from Benbrook to Weatherford

Written from the west side, for the west side. This is the guide you'd text a friend — rent ranges, commutes, school districts, and the trade-offs the listing sites won't tell you.

Golden sunset over open Texas prairie

Aledo & Willow Park / Hudson Oaks

Aledo ISD  The reason most families target this pocket: the school district. Apartment supply is newer and smaller than Fort Worth proper — 1-bedrooms average around $1,400, with townhome and rental-house options climbing from there. New communities have been leasing up aggressively: as of this summer, several were running 7–8 weeks free. Trade-off: fewer walkable amenities; you'll drive for almost everything. Commute: I-20 straight shot, ~25 min to downtown FW outside rush.

Walsh

Master-planned, fiber-fast, brand new — and priced like it. Two-bedrooms commonly run $2,000+. If you're paying Walsh rents with decent credit, do yourself a favor and run the rent math — you're squarely in "could own" territory.

Chisholm Trail corridor (SW Fort Worth)

The volume play: newer complexes, the widest selection in the mid-$1,300–$1,700 band, and quick tollway access both directions. Best odds of catching a big move-in special almost any month of the year.

Benbrook

Older stock, honest prices, lake nearby. One of the better values within 15 minutes of the west side's job centers, and often more flexible screening than the new-build communities.

Clearfork / W 7th / Left Bank

The lifestyle end: walkable dining, river trails, and rents to match — $1,600–$2,400+ for one- and two-bedrooms. Concessions show up here too; downtown-area properties have been offering 6–8 weeks free in slower months.

Weatherford / Parker County

Complex inventory thins out; rental houses become the play. If you need Parker County on a budget, start earlier than you think — rental houses move differently than apartments and the good ones go fast.
